Welcome to our web page. On
behalf of the Universal Foundation I salute
you with love and respect.
In 1992,
a group of people came
together and decided to form
a local Foundation to search
for others in the community
to build friendships, share
their ideas and simply be
friends.
Actually, the interaction
and getting together was
happening informally many
years back in a location in
Brooklyn, somewhat in a
loose fashion. With the
creation of the Universal
Foundation, this became
more structured.
Today we are growing rapidly
in our new location on Coney
Island Ave. in Brooklyn,
with the momentum we get
from all our members.
Actually our doors are open
to everyone and there is no
membership to join. The
members are simply “the
friends”. Our friends come
from all parts of the
community, there is no fee
to pay or no obligations to
fulfill…Just have an open
mind and open heart, this is
all it takes. This reminds
us of the famous poem from
Rumi which starts with
words:
“Come, no matter who you
are….’
Our mission is to promote
friendship and improve
mutual understandings across
the community at large. We
believe in the value of
dialogue and tolerance to
create a harmonious
community life with no
barriers to break. We always
try to look at things in a
positive light and consider
our lives as a gift to
cherish and nurture.
Most of our friends are
Turkish Americans. They
share the same feelings as
me, donate their valuable
time and money to pursue the
goals of the Universal
Foundation. A cup of tea or
an evening dinner together
goes a long way. That is
what we are all about.
